Why would this lonely tree be here in the spanse of this field? With the remnant of a fence line there would usually be a broken line of trees but this one is all alone. Was there a house out there? Does the owner of this land just have a soft spot in his heart for this tree?

I was driving down the road and saw a bird taking flight from a dead animal in the road. I thought it was a buzzard but I noticed it had a white tail. I could not imagine what it was but then I saw its white head and knew it was a bald eagle.
